WRITER, EDITOR, ARTIST, EDUCATOR
Yep, I'm a Renaissance soul. I love to create, connect & teach. My career's threads are writing & educating, both of which I do through a creative lens. My "ink" (as in MPK INK) is my voice, how I share with the world—through words, stories & the arts.
Here's a look at the various facets of my work:
WRITING & EDITING: I've been a professional non-fiction writer & editor for over 20 years (I've loved writing since I learned to hold a pencil!). I've published & edited non-fiction for adults including essays, chapters, columns and articles (in books, newspapers, magazines and websites). Get more details on all that writing & editing here. I also write non-fiction for children, for which I have a separate website, here.
EDUCATING: Education is in my blood & soul. My parents are professors & my husband is a teacher (& a pretty darn good one at that: check him out here!). Over the course of my life, I've taught an array of classes & workshops to people from preschool to senior citizens. Check out what I'm currently teaching here. See my TEDx Talk here:
ART-MAKING: In my childhood memory box, you'll find many crayon-ed statements like, "When I grow up, I want to be an artist!" I simply love the arts: drawing, sculpting, singing, acting, collage-ing. Art is a huge part of who I am & what I do in this world. See some of my artsy stuff here.
