Writing is my bread & butter. Editing is my cinnamon & sugar. And non-fiction is forever my jam.
Here's a look at my "wordly" contributions...
BOOKS: My non-fiction book contributions (essays, chapters & co-authoring) include: Chicken Soup for the Soul (Inspiration for Teachers & My Kind (of) America); Mama, Phd; Sunshine/Noir: Writing from San Diego & Tijuana; Children & Media at Times of War & Conflict; The Teacher of the Year Handbook; and Real Parents, Real Progress.
ARTICLES & COLUMNS: My writing has been published in (click links for samples): Mothering Magazine, The Huffington Post, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Writer Mama Zine, Inside Higher Ed, UU World, Orange Coast Magazine, Teacher Magazine and Gazette Newspapers. I've written for websites including The Institute for Humane Education, AOL's Patch (back when it paid writers) and The T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies—as well as my own former blog of four years, "Having Enough (In a Have-It-All World)".
EDITING: I actually love to edit—especially non-fiction writing that makes a positive difference in the world. My specialty is developmental editing of non-fiction books. I've had the pleasure & honor of working as a freelance editor on excellent, difference-making books, including The Daring Book for Girls; The Double-Daring Book for Girls; Owning It; Fountain of Youth Exercises; The First Days of School (4th Edition); Where Parents Stand; The Fiske Guide To Colleges and Fodor's Los Angeles.
I still take on select clients. Learn more about that here.
"I just finished reading over your edits and am so amazed by how skillfully you identified the subtle changes that will profoundly impact the clarity of my message. Your ability to keep the content aligned with my ideals and allow the writing style to remain true to my voice were exactly what I was seeking in an editor. Thank you so much for your support on this project. Your positivity and enthusiasm are a gift. I am so grateful you said yes to this!"

“Megan contributed an essay for my anthology, Mama, PhD. She has been terrific to work with: a beautiful and sensitive writer, she's also incredibly professional, always prompt, and thoughtful in all our correspondence. She's provided extra help to publicize the book, providing mailing lists of potential readers for the book. She's terrific to work with, and I hope to work with her again!”

"When my publisher wanted another book that was a compilation of my teachings it was a bit overwhelming! The scope of my offerings over 30+ years are varied and multidimensional. When Megan came on to the project she immediately created a focus and flow that pulled everything together. She is a joy to work with through what could be vulnerable and challenging moments of self-expression. I am forever grateful for the wisdom, creativity, patience and consciousness that she brings to everything she does."
- Naomi Sophia Call, International teacher and author, Fountain of Youth Exercises, Yoga In Bed
"Megan is one of the best writers I know. She can take the most convoluted thoughts and turn them into the most eloquent copy. On top of that, she's 100 percent reliable, especially in a pinch. Her 'can do' attitude is exactly the kind of support I need when I've got client deadlines and need a writer who 'just gets it.' She's a true professional and a great asset to any team — which is why we've been working together for nearly a decade.”
