Writing is my bread & butter. Editing is my cinnamon & sugar. And non-fiction is forever my jam.
Here's a look at my "wordly" contributions...
BOOKS: My non-fiction book contributions (essays, chapters & co-authoring) include: Chicken Soup for the Soul (Inspiration for Teachers & My Kind (of) America); Mama, Phd; Sunshine/Noir: Writing from San Diego & Tijuana; Children & Media at Times of War & Conflict; The Teacher of the Year Handbook; and Real Parents, Real Progress.
ARTICLES & COLUMNS: My writing has been published in (click links for samples): Mothering Magazine, UU World, The Huffington Post, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Writer Mama Zine, Inside Higher Ed, Orange Coast Magazine, Teacher Magazine and Gazette Newspapers. I've written for websites including The Institute for Humane Education, AOL's Patch (back when it paid writers) and The T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies—as well as my own former blog of four years, "Having Enough (In a Have-It-All World)".
EDITING: I actually love to edit—especially non-fiction writing that makes a positive difference in the world. My specialty is developmental editing of non-fiction books. I've had the pleasure & honor of working as a freelance editor on excellent, difference-making books, including The Daring Book for Girls; The Double-Daring Book for Girls; Owning It; Fountain of Youth Exercises; The First Days of School (4th Edition); Where Parents Stand; The Fiske Guide To Colleges and Fodor's Los Angeles.
I still take on select clients. Learn more about that here.
